Texas Axis Deer Hunting 10827
$3,750
Originally from India, axis deer have found refuge in the rolling limestone hills, juniper choked valleys, and Live Oak mottes that make up the Texas Hill Country. Escapees from high fence ranches in years past, the axis deer has become a free-range hunter’s off season treat. Majority of their axis hunts take place during the main portion of the rut, mid May through August, when they can find most mature bucks hard horned and screaming all hours of the day. These hunts are a mixture of spot and stalk, glassing, and calling as we generally do not hunt from blinds but can upon request. These hunts are typically 2 x 1 fully guided as there are generally multiple bucks per group. Typically shots are 100-300 yards but can be further given the circumstance. Be prepared to walk in uneven and rocky terrain with temperature often exceeding 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
Snake gaiters or snake boots are recommended for these hunts. These hunts are fully guided, ranch house lodging and home style meals all included. These hunts are 3 days, one half day upon arrival, 2 full days and 1 half day upon departing.
Bucks with 30” plus main beams, brow tines, and caudal tines are to be expected as trophies.
