Bear hunts are typically widely available… Shut down the Canadian border for two springs and things change quickly. We do have room for one group of 4 in Manitoba. And while the border closure was devastating, the silver lining here is that the already flourishing bear population went virtually un-hunted for two years. If you are not interested in Canada, do not overlook Alaska for a thrilling spot and stalk coastal black bear hunt or a heart-pounding brown bear hunt.
Alaska Boat Based Black Bear
On this Alaska black bear hunt, you can experience some of the finest hunting available on Prince of Wales Island and Misty Fjords for trophy Coastal Black Bears. This is a spot and stalk hunt which takes place by boat in the bays and inlets of Southeast Alaska. In the spring, bears gather on the beaches and tidal flats while in search of crabs, mussels, and green grasses. This is a very high success hunt and it typically offers multiple opportunities at bears that average 7 feet when squared. On average hunters see between 5 to 15 bears per day. They commonly set crab and shrimp pots while hunting. The black bear hunts are not very physically demanding and tend to be both relaxing and enjoyable. These also make great hunts for parties of two or more and are perfect for father/son and father/daughter hunts. If you wish to extend your trip to include other activities such as salt and freshwater fishing that is also an option.

Manitoba Spring Bear
This Black bear hunt takes place in a trophy-rich area of Manitoba about three hours from Winnipeg. Most of these bears have rarely seen a human, allowing them to reach maturity and trophy quality. Oh, and spring bear hunting was virtually non-existent the past two seasons! These hunts take place near Riding Mountain National Park, an area renowned for its high bear density and a lot of color phase bears! Enjoy a very well-appointed cabin/lodge and excellent meals. A full dinner will be provided early afternoon, prior to the hunt and then lunch served in the evening following the hunt. Very high success for archery and rifle hunters alike.
