Not for the faint of heart, an Alaska Mountain Goat hunt will challenge you mentally and physically. That being said it is also a rewarding and exhilarating experience. Southeast Alaska boast some of the most dense Mountain Goat populations in the world and is known to produce many trophy class animals. After arriving in Ketchikan you will fly into one of the many high alpine lakes located in the Misty Fjords National Monument and set up base camp near the lake shore. From there you and your guide will negotiate 1,000 to 3,000 feet elevation in sometimes very steep terrain to where you will set up spike camps and proceed to locate the goats you intend to stalk. Weather plays a significant role in determining the enjoyment and success of this hunt. Mountain Goat hunting is probably one of the most physically demanding of all the big game hunts. The quality of the hunt is very much determined by the physical condition of the hunter. We recommend that you be in good condition and utilize the best equipment you can. Hunting takes place from September through the end of October.
