These fall hunts are conducted in the Kotzebue area where you will find beautiful “Arctic” grizzlies. These hunts are actually conducted north of the Arctic Circle. The bear in this region have a wide color variation, with light blonde being the predominant color. Bear in this area typically range from 6.5 to a little over 8 feet. Days will be spent glassing mountain sides for bear feeding on blueberries, roaming the tundra, feeding on a recent moose or caribou carcass, or feeding on late run salmon in rivers. This is a great hunt to “combo” with for Caribou. The bear hunts in this area are on a draw basis, and require advance application. However, there are surplus tags available some years which are sold on a first come first serve basis.
