Manitoba Caribou
Outstanding 2023 Season
Barren Ground Caribou are an iconic North American big game species. For decades, this majestic animal represented one of the most affordable sporting adventures money could buy. Since about 2015, we have observed precipitous changes to caribou hunting opportunities. Provincial closures, population declines, politics, and economics have all changed the landscape of caribou hunting worldwide. All that being said, hunting caribou is still a bucket list adventure with few comparisons. 2023 was a banner year, for Manitoba in particular, and we have seen a renewed interest and demand for barren ground caribou hunts outside of Alaska. The remaining spots will go quickly.
The Best Value in Caribou Hunting Today…
This Manitoba Caribou hunt takes place just below the Nunavut border. This is a remote camp situated in the heart of the migration route of the Qamanirjuaq herd, one of the healthiest caribou herds in the world. In recent years, many of Manitoba’s top Barren Ground Caribou were taken at this camp. This is an excellent area for bow hunters with small stands of spruce and dwarf birch for cover. Incredible fishing is an added bonus with Lake Trout and Arctic Grayling present. A ptarmigan license can also be purchased at camp if hunters decide to do some bird hunting. Wolf can be taken on an opportunity basis at no additional charge if a hunter has an open big game tag. There will be a maximum of 6 hunters in camp. The guides and staff are focused on giving you a very personalized caribou hunt.

Jim Winjum’s 2023 Hunt
I will tell you the hunt was absolutely fabulous! Could not have been any better. The guys tried so hard and they were really a great bunch. Our guide was Joel and man does he know caribou. No quit in him. We saw what I would call giant caribou every day. A rifle hunt would have been oh so easy but I guess deciding which one you like would be the difficult part. As you know with a bow, it is a different story. Still we killed 3 with a bow and had opportunities at 3 others we could have (should have) been able to get. That is amazing! Anyway I could not be more pleased with this group. I think they have a great future ahead of them! Thank you Conway and Hosted Hunts for all of your efforts making sure everything went smoothly.
