Alberta Mule Deer – John Schaeffer

While ultimately I was not successful on this hunt, I did have a few shot opportunities on some solid 3 year old mule deer,  but decided not to take the shot as I felt that it was more appropriate to stick to my goal of harvesting a 4+ years old trophy buck. There were a lot of deer up there, but I suspect the big old bucks were still in hiding since it was pre-rut during my hunt. That said, another hunter in camp did harvest a 202″ buck! I really enjoyed hunting on this trip and would do it again although I do wish the season was more than 4 days. I would rate my overall experience 5 stars out of 5.  I highly recommend Hosted Hunts to help you connect and find a hunt of a lifetime! My hunt consultant there, Dave Rorem, was super to work with and get me set up on a trophy mule deer hunt in Alberta. And while I didn’t fill my tag on this one, I did thoroughly enjoy my outfitted hunting experience.
