New Mexico Oryx Hunt 10494
$7,000
This New Mexico Oryx hunt is a Hosted Hunts Exclusive and it may be one of the best kept secrets in all of North American hunting. The New Mexico Oryx have roamed the plains on and around the White Sand Missile Range of south central New Mexico since the late 1960’s. When they were first introduced they were listed as Gemsbok (just as they are in Africa). However, as they have been free ranging and reproducing in New Mexico for well over 20 years, SCI now categorizes them as the New Mexico Oryx. While they were initially meant to be contained to the White Sands range, over time they expanded to private lands beyond the range as a free roaming species. And while they are still prevalent on the range, drawing a tag there is no small feat with very few hunters selected each year. Even the off-range tags are a challenge to draw. However, on this private ranch of more than 350,000 acres the licenses are issued with no draw, they are over the counter! This is the best guaranteed tag, free range Oryx hunt in all of North America. What’s more is this outfitter has been in the business for over 40 years and along with his family they run a very solid operation. Hunting these beautiful animals is challenging and rewarding. They have very keen eyesight and are swift of foot. In addition, they are very tough animals requiring patience, a perfectly executed stalk and a well-placed shot to successfully harvest them. Both male and female animals carry majestic horns making them spectacular trophies. In addition, Oryx are considered to be exceptional table fare. And unlike hunting in Africa, on this hunt you can truly enjoy the bounty of your harvest in addition to a gorgeous mount. The population on this ranch is tremendous. With year-round breeding and very few predators they have flourished, creating a sustainable and very huntable population. Careful management of the ranch in conjunction with New Mexico Department of Game and Fish have made this a special ranch. Hunts are 5 days in length and run very high success. Trophy Oryx are commonly taken with 34 inch or better horns. Either sex can be harvested, and again no draw required, these tags are over the counter. The landowner tag is included in the hunt price. The New Mexico hunting license and Oryx license must still be purchased however. Hunts are offered year-round allowing you great flexibility in your hunting calendar. Lodging is very clean and nice and is located right on the ranch. The spacious lodge offers plenty of privacy as well. Home cooked meals are included with the package. If booked far enough in advance these can be combined with Trophy Mule Deer or Antelope. Antelope on the ranch are often found in excess of 80 inches B&C. Limited availability, reduced price management hunts are also an option. Management hunts will target broken or missing horned Oryx.
