Fishing these gin clear waters is a special treat and one you won’t soon forget. Freshwater fishing is also an option. Anglers from around the country travel south to find the best in big bass fishing. Central Florida is the king of trophy large mouth bass. Trolling or casting wild shiners along heavy weed beds is the best approach in search of that ten pound bucketmouth that every bass fisherman dreams about. Going through 50 shiners in a day is a not an unusual practice during the peak spring and fall months. Artificial lures such as plastic worms or top water plugs can also produce good numbers of fish. Flipping in heavy cover is everyone’s favorite for catching the big boys. Any type of bass fishing you prefer, these guys can do it. From Okeechobee to the Withlacoochee River, they cover the top spots for giant large mouth bass. Crappie fishing is also available. Florida also is home to many lakes that produce high numbers of crappie. In the fall and winter months they typically land daily limits of crappie up to and over 2 pounds. That’s a big crappie. And they are superb table-fare.
