Young Lincoln here was the lucky winner out of a group of finalists at this year’s contest which was part of Kids Outdoor Day. This exciting annual event is coordinated by our wonderful friends at Streiff Sporting Goods. http://www.streiffs.com/
All finalist were to submit an essay describing “what it means to be a responsible outdoors person”. The essays were panel judged and the grand prize was a youth whitetail hunt in Kansas coordinated by Hosted Hunts. This was a fully guided private land hunt that included meals and lodging. Making this great prize even sweeter, the winner would also get a brand new Browning A-Bolt 7mm-08 with a Vortex scope! Of course the best prize of all was this full velvet Kansas Whitetail Buck! Nice shooting young man! And look at that smile!
Kids Outdoors was started 24 years ago with a pretty focused objective: expose our youth to all that the great outdoors has to offer in a positive and respectful way and accomplish this without a cost to the kids. Since the inception of Kids Outdoors we have worked hard to accomplish this objective by providing one day a fall that is dedicated to the kids, in that time we have hosted more than 5,000 kids. During the day the kids of Northern Minnesota are instructed and participate in topic/activities that range from bird identification, water safety, forest management, orienteering, air rifle shooting, archery, tree stand safety, sporting clays, trap shooting, dog training, black powder, rifle shooting and much more. Kids Outdoors is coordinated by Streiff Sporting Goods…but it is very important to acknowledge that the annual event could not happen without sponsorship from local businesses and or the commitment from as many as 100 volunteers each year. This year’s sponsors also included Hosted Hunts, Browning, and Vortex Optics.
